For the first time, Elliott Wilson is bringing the CRWN conversation to the City of Angels. And who better to do that with than LA native DJ Mustard, who’s been tearing up the hip-hop scene all summer long. Just like the title of his debut album suggests, Mustard’s got plans well beyond his latest summer hits, and he’s not letting up on his hustle anytime soon.
Elliott Wilson is an American journalist, television producer, and the founder and CEO of the popular website Rap Radar and also the former editor-in-chief of XXL Magazine. While there, he became known for his editorials under the nickname “YN”. Over the course of his career, Elliott has interviewed and profiled artists including Jay-Z, the Notorious B.I.G, Eminem and Royce da 5’9″, Mobb Deep, Rick Ross, Drake, Tyler, The Creator, A Tribe Called Quest, DMX, Big Daddy Kane, J. Cole, Ja Rule, DJ Khaled, Lauryn Hill and the Fugees, and every member of the Wu-Tang Clan.
In October 2012, Elliott Wilson launched a short weekly video series on Jay-Z’s Life & Times YouTube channel, titled ‘The Truth.’ The webisodes cover the current hot topics in hip-hop music each week. Additionally, Wilson often hosts live Google hangouts on The Truth, in which he and guests whom include photographers, bloggers, fans, and more discuss the current events in hip-hop.
In April 2013, Elliot Wilson kicked off a live interview series titled CRWN on WatchLOUD.com, where tickets are sold to a general audience and Wilson interviews the guest, who is a popular rapper, on stage before the crowd. The first guest in the interview series was Odd Future frontman Tyler, The Creator, and the event sold out in a short span and proved to be a success. The second guest was Roc Nation-signed rapper J. Cole. The third guest was MMG’s Wale. For the fourth installment in the CRWN series, Elliott traveled to Seattle to interview hometown hero, independent platinum-selling artist Macklemore. Since then he has traveled to NYC to do his latest interview with Young Money’s stars Drake and Lil Wayne.
